Wireless Issues

  • I recently configured an SSG5-Serial-WLAN. Everything works fine except for the wireless. I noticed that the event logs are flooded with the following:

alert Wireless AP re-initiated: Failed to load miniboot to AP
notification Wireless AP in load-miniboot mode.
notification Wireless AP in request-reboot mode.

I also noticed that the regulatory domain is UNKNOWN. I’m pretty sure this is why the wireless won’t work. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

  • I know this is old, but it is the best hit in google for this issue.

The process outlined by brainee is not necessary to fix the wireless issue on the SSG5. It is much simpler.

    • Open the SSG5, and disconnect the wireless daughter card.
Power on the system, and wait for it to boot completely (connect a serial cable if you want to watch it). There will be many errors line “wlan no such command” but that’s ok.
Power off the ssg5 by unplugging it
      Reinstall the wireless daughter card
      power on the system.

At this stage i got a single error “Unsupported command - set wlan change-channel-timer 0”. If you get the same error, log in and delete the SSID config you may already have, and create a new one in the usual way.

That’s all i did and all my errors went away.

PS. I did this with 6.3.0r14

  • Ok i have a solution for me so i will it write here i hope its helpfully.

I have tried some steps so i will only write the last complete that was fixing the Wireless AP to Boot up.
you need screenos6.3.r08 or a other one and the serial console and a tftp server with the firmware. save your config !!!

    1:
first i do a “exec vfs fbtl 0” thsi will delete the hole flash

    2:
then i delete all files in the flash with #delete file “filename”# before i list the files with “exec vfs ls flash:”
(i think thats a sensless step but whatever i dont know 🙂

    3:
    reset
now the device cant boot thats ok. cut all cables
    4:
i opend the cover and removed the wireless interface.

    5:
put all cables back power console and the eth for the tftp

    6:
load the firmware from the tftp and write it to the disk after thats finshed, i reset it again and cut of ther power and replace the wireless interface.

7: Now it will BOOT Up HAPPY,  now do “set wlan country-code” …

    8:
    FINISHED

So my idea is that can be a problem by an electrical contact or the wireless interface become power from the lithium-battery and it was hang , so the remove resetts the device. Or the fbtl format without the interface fixt it , i dont know

Kind Regards and much of Fun

  • I have this problem too… today i take a upgrade from 6.3.r7 to 6.3.r8 and now my wireless is broken 😞 i cant set a country-code in the cli and webui.
