J2300 VLAN tagging

  • I’m trying to trunk a J2300 with a Cisco 2950.

    What do I use for encapsulation?

    vlan-ccc or extended-vlan-ccc?

    When I set encapsulation vlan-ccc and set the family to ccc I can’t assign family inet address

    fe-0/0/1 {
    vlan-tagging;
    speed 100m;
    link-mode full-duplex;
    encapsulation vlan-ccc;
    unit 600 {
    encapsulation vlan-ccc;
    vlan-id 600;
    family ccc;

    thanks

  • Hey jsammer,

    it worked! I’m starting to like JUNOS….

    Thanks

  • OK, thanks!

  • The config’s I sent are from a production j-2300 trunking to a 2950 also.  I remember mucking around with the encap when I was figuring this out but as far as I can tell  you don’t have to specify it.

    Hope this helps.

  • I will try that, but how about encapsulation?

    thanks!

  • How do -

    You’re close. You’ll need to create sub-interfaces. Here, the fe-0/0/1 is divided as such by changing the “unit” param. You don’t use family ccc for what you’re implementing. Use family inet. Then trunk your 2950 as usual. (the “filter” isn’t relevant)

    For example:

    }

    fe-0/0/1 {

    vlan-tagging;

    speed 100m;

    link-mode full-duplex;

    unit 3 {

    description Vlan-3;

    vlan-id 3;

    family inet {

    filter {

    input General-Purpose;

    }

    address 10.1.1.1/24;

    }

    }

    unit 4 {

    description Vlan-4;

    vlan-id 4;

    family inet {

    address 10.1.2.1/24;

    }

    }

    unit 5 {

    description Vlan-5;

    vlan-id 5;

    family inet {

    address 10.1.7.2/24;

    }

    }
